What is Psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a major skin disorder that you can get at any age whether you are male or female. The word actually comes from the mythology Greeks meaning “To Itch”. Having this can be a problem if left untreated. Usually running in the family, psoriasis is not contagious. Most people that have this usually go through stages of depression, annoyance, and a little embarrassment. Your lower layers of skin multiply faster than normal thus creating dead cells which collect into thicker patches usually on the surface of the skin.
Are There Risks?
Some of the following are considered risks for having this problem:
- Obesity
- High levels of stress
- Smokers
- Running in the family
- Medical conditions
Causes
Genetic and the environment are the top 2 causes and factors for psoriasis.
Where do you get this on the body?
Usually, most people experience getting this on the scalp, arms, legs, elbows, knees, and fingernails. There have even been reports of people getting this inside of the mouth on the softer tissues between the gums.
Possible Treatment Options?
Most of the time when this question is asked, the usual first response is diet.
Remember, you are what you eat. If you are eating garbage then your chances of getting healthier are more slim then someone who eats more fruits and veggies.
To take care of this remember to:
Bath regularly.
Do not use heavily concentrated soaps to clog up the pores.
Take extra vitamin E and Zinc to increase the healing process.
Drink less alcohol and do not use alcohol related products. They can make the psoriasis worse.
