Getting psoriasis on the head is no walk in the park.

Many treat the scalp with medicated liquids, shampoos, spray, gel products,and psoriasis soaps made especially for this problem area.
Quotes from actual doctors have said that scalp psoriasis can be among the most frequent recalcitrant. Certain shots or medications may be needed if someone does not improve with an aggressive topical regimen.

Not only is scalp psoriasis stubborn, treating it can be very time consuming and problematic. It is a challenge to get medication directly onto the scalp while trying to avoid the hair; tar and gel products, even though effective, can be stinky and stain hair; and certain scalp treatments have to be left on overnight in order to get the full effect, which can be a filthy situation.

According to The National Psoriasis Foundation, to make scalp treatments simpler and more effective, recommendations are to first remove any scales on the scalp so the medication can seep in more easily. Slightly loosen them by soaking the scalp in lukewarm water. The NPF also recommends spreading some warm olive oil onto the scalp, wrap  head in towel and leave on for a few hours, or use a hair dryer briefly. Gently remove scales meticulously with a fine-tooth comb or brush before applying any treatment. A good, comfortable shower cap is also worth the investment if you need to leave medicine on overnight.

It is a common situation to use these treatments for a few months. Once you notice the psoriasis clearing, proper maintenance of using a medicated shampoo several times a week is recommended. There have been other topical medications derived from vitamin D and A which are also sometimes used.

There is also something called Dermasis Psoriasis Cream, which helps fight the symptoms that cause your skin to look red and patchy with a two-fold approach.
